Use cases
Courses & cohorts
A lesson page has the one thing a video call never has: everybody is already looking at the same thing. The bar tells a student who else is on the page right now; a tap on a face is a study group.

The shape#
The bar and island on every lesson, with the full shape if the whiteboard matters or call if the lesson page should stay the lesson page. Students are vouched for by your login — one token per page load, minted by your server — so the same student keeps the same face and boards for the whole term.
Huddles.init({
embedder: 'brightcourse',
position: 'top-right',
getToken: () => fetch('/api/huddles-token').then(r => r.text()),
});Why it works here#
- Presence is the feature. Seeing three classmates on the same chapter at 11pm is the nudge; the voice is what the nudge leads to.
- The whiteboard is a press away and dies with the huddle, so a scratch derivation never becomes a thing to clean up.
- Going live turns a huddle into office hours: the instructor speaks, the cohort listens and raises a hand.
